A new and interesting development from Microsoft is the upcoming Maui platform. MAUI, which stands for Multi-platform App UI, is the next evolution of Xamarin which allows app developers to write code once for running on multiple platforms.
The main change with the Maui platform compared to the current Xamarin platform is that there is no longer a requirement to have multiple projects to support each platform. All the code for a multi-platform app is now contained in a single project. This means the platform has taken the next step towards the ‘write once run anywhere’ mantra.
This is a development we are closely following at PDS Code as it allows us to pass on significant cost savings to our customers.
It is currently in beta, and Microsoft expect that it will be in production some time towards the end of the year. Take a look at the Microsoft blog for more information.
